    Hi Stuart,
    I ran across your video “ten tips for relationship old” and it really rang true for me. I have had anxiety and elements of OCD since I was a child but it has recently erupted into a lot of lock checking behaviors and thoughts about my current relationship. I keep having doubts, questioning things, and obsessively looking up things about relationships on the internet. Your video about the up and down feelings, one day being completely content with your relationship and the next day not, and then back and forth from there really resonated with me and made me realize that this is a real thing I am likely dealing with right now. I was going to see if you had resources on the following which I am trying to look into for my road to recovery…
    1- Do you have any advice on finding a good therapist to treat OCD? I have been seeing someone for a few weeks but I am not convinced she is well trained at treating it.
    2-Do you have any resources on how to talk to your partner about OCD? My boyfriend really seems to have no understanding and has said that my lock checking scares him. I don’t think he would take me talking about ROCD very well since it would make him feel like I am having doubts because I don’t love him.

    Thanks so much again. I am just beginning to seek help with my OCD and your website is a great relief for me because I can relate to so much.

      Hi Kelly,

      I’m glad my videos and site are helping you. And great work on having a recovery focused mindset, it will help massively.

      OCD gets worse if not dealt with so good job in stopping it. OCD thrives on the need for certainty. In your case the need to know the door is locked and the need to know you are in the right relationship. Because life is uncertain and you don’t know, OCD freaks out. The key is to start embracing uncertain.

      2. I recently recorded a podcast with leading researcher on rocd. Guy answers this question. That will be live on Sunday at theocdstories.com. Other than that it’s worthy finding an article that describes OCD very well and that how common it is. As that may help him understand.
